The Plan

For our band program’s fundraising campaign this fall, instead of a typical fundraiser where students sell merchandise from a catalog and then deliver it, we are soliciting donations. It’s easier for you, there is no merchandise to pick up and deliver, 100% of the money goes towards the kids, and we can offer better rewards for students who participate.

How it Works

Students simply ask friends and family to make a donation to our school band program. Checks may be written to “VHMS BAND”. Students should fill out the chart on the back of this paper as they collect donations or contacts. Collected donations are accepted year long!

Why are we doing this? Doesn't the Band receive funding?

Our band program costs $20,000.00 to operate or around $150 per student. We receive $1100 in funding from the school and $3000 from the district for repairs. This money is supposed to cover new concert music (cost about $50 for each piece, and we play 3-4 pieces with each of our 3 bands in 2 concerts each year), repairing equipment and school-owned instruments (last year was over $4000), classroom supplies, percussion accessories (a bass drum mallet is $85, for example), etc.

Our greatest need is help with paying for transportation, which was $7436.50 last year.

How can I support the band?

1. Donate an amount meaningful to you. Current needs surpass the available school budget. Your help allows us to: TRAVEL TO FESTIVALS, BRING IN SPECIALISTS, SUBSIDIZE PERFORMANCE ATTIRE AND SOLO/ENSEMBLE REGISTRATIONS, AND PURCHASE BADLY NEEDED INSTRUMENTS (LIKE TUBAS & BARITONES).

2. Share this on social media! Facebook, Twitter, etc

Band programs are expensive. We need financial help to create the best, most educational experience for your children. If we all contribute what we can, we can do something incredible together.
